                     I'm so glad you stopped by.

     Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Rev. Lonnie Gunter founder and president of Canaan Land Children's Home. I am the founder and pastor of Genesis Full Gospel Church in Mount Airy, North Carolina. I was born in Henry County Virginia on November 14, 1942, to the late Thomas Hal Gunter, and Jewell Kay Linville Gunter; raised and educated in Surry County, North Carolina. I was raised by my grandparent's Emmitt Oscar Allen and Rena Kim Linville Allen.
     Married 46 years to Evelyne Ruth Hooker Gunter, daughter of Claude France Hooker and Leona Ruth Amburn Hooker. I have two children, Laura Ann Gunter Goins and David Scott Gunter, three grand children Joseph Andrew (Andy) Goins, Matthew Adam (Matt) Goins and Jacob Scott (Jake) Gunter.
     I have a vision to build a children's home for abused, abandoned and neglected children in our community but it can't stop there, multitudes around us are in need of someone to encourage them and give them hope for the present and future.
     Construction began on July 14, 2008on the  first two(2) buildings. When construction is completed and all inspections by the State of North Carolina and Surry County are complete, Canaan Land Children's Home Inc. can begin operation.
     We are looking forward to seeing the children come. Children who are in need of love, compassion and encouragement. Canaan Land Children's home  will be that place where they can find it.
     As I look ahead I look with a positive attitude and faith through Christ who strengthens me. I see the days ahead filled with the promises of God. I see the promise of his faithfulness every day. I see and opportunity to demonstrate the faithfulness of God to others through preaching and living the Word of God. Every day belongs to the Lord and he is faithful to see that the vision he gives us is fulfilled because there is always purpose to what God does and that purpose is directed toward mankind.
